“It is not good for man to be alone.” -God
“He who isolates himself seeks his own desire. He breaks out against all sound judgement.” -Solomon
“There is nothing on this earth to be more prized than true friendship” -Aquinas
I’m shocked at the lack of friendship that I have discovered. Particularly, I’m grieved at the amount of people that have been in the church for decades and still find themselves in isolation. Their phones don’t go off, their FB feeds don’t show pictures of them with other couples. Maybe it’s from Covid. Maybe it’s by their own choosing. Or most likely, it’s Satan working to bring death.
David ruined his life when he separated from his fellow warriors. Peter couldn’t stand up to a little girl when he found himself alone. Isolation made Elijah suicidal. Eve found conversation with a snake. I can identify with all of them. Isolation made me bring my gun to my parent’s place for a year for safe keeping.
There is a mysterious power in friendship, and a devious and devouring power in isolation. Indeed, it is not good for man to be alone.
